If you encounter a problem with Family Hub, check the following recommendations and solutions.

NOTE

The PANDORA apps are only available in the United States.

Hardware

Question

Cannot find the USB connection port.

Open the right-side door of the refrigerator (with the LCD display). The USB cover is on the top of the door. To access the USB connection port, lift up the cover while pressing it firmly in the middle.

Difficulties opening the USB cover.

Lift up the cover while firmly pressing it in the middle. Note that it may be difficult to open the cover when your hands are slippery. Make sure your hands are dry.

Difficulties re-assembling the USB cover.

Align the top part of the cover with the groove and then push the cover down until you hear a "click". Make sure to firmly press with two hands to apply equal force to both sides. If you do not hear the click, the cover is not closed properly and it will not be flush with the refrigerator door.

Does the heat from the LCD cause the internal temperature of the refrigerator to increase?

The refrigerator door has high-efficiency vacuum insulation, so that heat from the LCD display does not affect the internal temperature of the refrigerator. Heat from the LCD display does not transfer to the refrigerator.

Settings

How do you change the keyboard language?

There is a key with a globe icon on the left side of the space bar. You can tap that key to change the language.

The time keeps resetting.

The time resets when the system reboots. Set Settings - Date and Time - Automatic date and time to ON to allow the Internet to update the time automatically.

Can personal information that has been deleted by mistake be restored?

Resetting clears all the data and resets settings to the factory default state. You cannot restore previous data or settings once you reset.

Network and Connections

Cannot connect to Bluetooth devices other than a Bluetooth speaker.

You can only connect Bluetooth sound output devices such as headsets, earphones, and speakers to Family Hub. Other types of Bluetooth devices such as keyboards, mobile devices, etc. cannot be connected. Make sure the device you want to connect has a sound output function.

Cannot establish a Bluetooth connection between a mobile phone and Family Hub.

You cannot connect mobile phones to Family Hub through Bluetooth. The Bluetooth devices that can be connected to Family Hub are sound output devices such as headsets, earphones, and speakers.

Cannot connect to Wi-Fi.

Confirm you can connect to Wi-Fi with your smart phone or PC. If you cannot connect to Wi-Fi with other devices, you must check the router.

Checking the router status

  • Check the router's power and try rebooting it.
  • Make sure you have entered the correct ID and password.
  • Make sure the signal is not too weak.
  • Make sure Wi-Fi is on. If not, set Settings - Wi-Fi to ON.
  • Make sure Wi-Fi is on in Family Hub. If not, set Settings - Wi-Fi to ON. If Family Hub cannot find the router, you need to contact a service technician.
  • Try to connect to Wi-Fi if Family Hub can search for and find the router when Settings - Wi-Fi is set to ON. If Family Hub cannot connect to Wi-Fi, make sure you entered the correct ID and password.
  • If Family Hub still cannot connect to Wi-Fi even though it is connected to the router, contact a service technician.

Wi-Fi connection gets lost due to poor router strength.

If the connection is lost, find the router program on a PC, and then go to the settings menu. Find the "Mode Setting" menu in the router's settings, and then check if it is set to 'n only'. If it is, change the settings to the b, g, and n mode.

Internet

I cannot install the Plug-In that is required to watch a movie or video clip.

The Plug-In is not provided with Family Hub. It must be provided by the Plug-In provider. We will try to resolve this issue in the future.

Cannot connect to the Internet

Make sure that Family Hub is connected to your Wi-Fi network. Confirm that other apps that require an Internet connection (such as Weather) are working. If those apps are not working, connect Family Hub to your Wi-Fi network first.

The Auto complete function does not work when I try to enter an address in the address bar.

We are currently working on the Auto complete function. It will be available in the next software version.

Takes too long to take an internal photo.

It may take several seconds (maximum of 30 seconds) to take an internal photo if the external temperature and the humidity of refrigerator are high. However, it usually takes approximately 10 seconds to take the photo. If it takes too long to take an internal photo, make sure that the external temperature and humidity of the refrigerator is not too high. Lower the temperature if necessary.

Internal photo is blurry.

There are total of 3 cameras between the refrigerator doors. Clean the camera lenses with clean cloth.

TV Mirroring

Cannot connect to TV Mirroring.

Only certain Samsung smart TV models released after 2015 are supported.

Check the model code on the rear side of the TV. Supported models have J as the fifth character in the model code and model series numbers of 6400 or higher. (Ex. UN40JU6400F). If the fifth character in the model code is K through Z, all model series are supported.

TV mirroring connection is often lost. (When the Wi-Fi signal is weak because the distance between the TV and the Family Hub is large.)

TV Mirroring connects the TV and the refrigerator through your wireless network. This allows you to see the contents on the TV screen on the Family Hub's screen. Therefore, the network status and the distance from the TV may have an effect on the TV Mirroring connection. Make sure the distance from the TV is no more than 33 feet (10 m) without any obstacles, and the network status is stable.

The TV display is often unclear.

TV Mirroring connects the TV and the refrigerator through your wireless network. This allows you to see the contents on the TV screen on the Family Hub's screen. Therefore, the network status and the distance from the TV may have an effect on the TV Mirroring connection. Make sure the distance from the TV is no more than 33 feet (10 m) without any obstacles, and the network status is stable.

Cannot change the channel.

If you use a set top box to watch TV, you may not be able to change the channel directly from the refrigerator. Use the remote controller for the set top box to change the channel directly from the TV.

When there are more than 2 Family Hub refrigerators and I’m using the TV mirroring on one of them, I cannot connect to TV mirroring on the other Family Hub refrigerator.

Disconnect the current connection between the TV and the refrigerator, and then connect TV Mirroring on the other Family Hub refrigerator.

White Board

Voice recording does not work. Cannot hear recorded audio.

Make sure the microphone is on. Then, get closer to the refrigerator to record. If you cannot hear the recorded audio, open Quick Panel, and check the volume.

It’s difficult to write a memo.

Family Hub's display cannot recognize touches with a fingernail. Gently touch with your fingertips to write a memo. Touches may not be recognized when there is foreign matter on the display. Make sure to clean it before use.

Can photos in the album be sorted in saved order (or by file name)?

Photos can only be sorted in the order of the time taken. The ability to sort the photos in saved order or by file name is expected to be available in future versions of Family Hub.

How do I move to the photo editing screen?

Tap the photo, and then tap Rotate .

How do you move photos from a USB device to Family Hub?

A USB album appears when you connect the USB device. Move to the USB album, and then tap the Menu button on the Touch Button Bar to select the Copy or Move function. If you select Copy or Move, select the photos, and then tap DONE. Select the folder to which you want to move the photos.

Cannot add an album.

You may not be able to add an album if there is an existing album in the folder with the same name. Use a different album name.

USB is not recognized.

Family Hub only supports the FAT16 and FAT32 format. If the USB is not recognized, connect the USB to a PC, and then check if it is in FAT16 or FAT32 format.

Connect the USB to a PC:

  1. Select the USB from the list of Devices with Removable Storage, and then right-click to select Format.
  2. Check that the File System is set to FAT16 or FAT32. If not, copy the photos on the USB to your computer, reformat the USB in FAT16 or FAT32, and then copy the photos back onto the USB.
  3. Check the USB capacity. Maximum capacity of a USB that can be recognized by Family Hub is 128 GB.

Pandora

Cannot sign up with Pandora from Family Hub.

Family Hub's Pandora app only allows you to log in. Sign up is not available. You must access Pandora's website on your PC or mobile device (such as a mobile phone, tablet, etc.) to sign up with Pandora.

TuneIn

Question

Answer

Certain stations appear on mobile phones but not on Family Hub.

You cannot listen to certain stations on Family Hub because we do not have provider agreements with them.

Sound cuts off while the radio is playing.

Radio playback may cut off when the Wi-Fi connection is unstable. Make sure to check the connection status.

Cannot play broadcast.

TuneIn may not play some of the music depending on the music formats supported by the broadcast station.

Security

Is my personal information in a saved memo, photo, or voice message safe?

To prevent personal information from leaking, saved memos, photos, voice message, and other privacy related data is encrypted. Also, we have an applied software security method that makes it difficult to access personal information. In addition, Voice Control data is not collected or saved, so it cannot be sent externally.
